Join us for a night of Brian O’Kane’s silky trumpet lead and you’ll leave with an appreciation for the music of a celebrated Canadian artist. Brian recently won his second Juno award with Toronto’s own John MacLeod’s Rex Hotel Orchestra. His quintet has been in demand for his co-lead with tenor saxophonist Alex Dean, which draws on big band and Latin influences.
Brian’s versatility has led to many roles including backup for diverse artists such as Herbie Hancock, Aretha Franklin, Paul Anka, Dave Brubeck and Diana Krall. His command of jazz is coupled with an understanding that he shares as faculty at Humber College.
The captivating music of the quintet speaks for itself in the excerpt of “Mona’s Mood” from Brian’s website.
Joining Brian are Alex Dean on tenor saxophone,
a jazz room favorite, Brian Dickinson, on the ivory,
Duncan Hopkins on bass and Barry Elmes on the kit.
