Friday, Jan 11 – Kimberly Barber and L’accordéoniste: Latin Heat

This show will conjure the smoky cabaret feel of Edith Piaf in 1930s Paris, or Kurt Weill’s 1920’s Berlin.  You won’t want to miss this unique program of hot latin tango and Neopolitan love songs, fronted by one of Canada’s leading interpreters of the cabaret genre, Kim Barber.  Also, on faculty at WLU’s music school, Kim is in heavy demand the world over for her operatic and varied singing career.

Joining Kim will be an extraordinary line-up of musicians.  Reknowned as a CBC radio broadcaster, pianist Peter Tiefenbach has collaborated with the best in the business, including Wendy Nielsen and Isabel Bayrakdarian.   Mary-Lou Vetere is a virtuoso accordionist, specializing in the cabaret and tango artforms.  Also on faculty at WLU, and frequent performer with the KW Symphony, local-favourite percussionist Carol Bauman rounds out the quartet of fabulous players.
