Saturday, May 19 – Lorne Lofsky/Roddy Elias Quartet

A duet for two of Canada’s finest guitarists within a quartet of Toronto’s finest jazz exports.

It was Oscar Petersen that offered to produce Lorne’s first CD, and since this debut, his discography has grown to no fewer than 19 CDs including two Juno awards and three more Juno nominations.

Based in Toronto for much of his career, Lorne Lofsky has explored the many subtle faces of the jazz guitar.  He has shared the stage with jazz legends Chet Baker and Ed Bickert, and has toured the planet with Oscar Petersen. From this tender sampler of My Foolish Heart to this inspired recording of The Christmas Waltz with Oscar Petersen, Lorne Lofsky has captivated audiences.

Roddy Elias is a dynamic and versatile classical and jazz guitarist whose recent focus on the guitar duet has led to innovative performances with Vic Juris, Gene Bertoncini, Lorne Lofsky, and David Occhipinti.

“Exquisite … a most thoughtful soloist … the kind of subtlety you don’t often hear … anywhere.” – Mark Miller, The Globe and Mail
