Mary Petrich, American saxophonist extraordinaire from Phoenix, Arizona is a leading jazz player in Western USA today.   She has worked with a panoply of local and national artists, including the Phoenix Symphony and singers Patti Austin, George Benson, Lou Rawls, Monica Mancini, Frank Sinatra Jr., and The Sun City Orchestra.  Her original compositions, and is a member of The PrizeFighting Kangaroos Saxophone Quartet.  She also performs with the Phoenix Symphony Pops Concerts, and plays in the Arizona Jazz Masterworks Orchestra under the direction of Fred Forney.
Wednesday night’s show at the Jazz Room features Mary on soprano and tenor, as well as local players Kyle Pinnell on guitar, Greg Prior on upright and electric bass, Kyle Skillman on drums, and Carol Ann Weaver on piano, playing originals by Mary Petrich and Carol Ann Weaver plus a vivid array of creative improv and new takes on jazz standards.
