Trumpeter Alexis Baro has established himself amongst the premiere artists on the Canadian jazz landscape.  Born in Havana, he completed his musical education at the prestigious Amadeo Roldan Music Conservatory and then joined Buena Vista Social club superstar Omara Poruondo’s band at age 19. Alexis relocated to Canada in 2001 and is featured as a sideman on over 30 recordings.

Alexis is a three-time nominee for “Best Trumpet Player” at the National Jazz Awards, co-winner of a Juno Award and recipient of a Gemini Award.  He’s has performed and recorded as a sideman with a variety of artists including David Foster, Paul Shaffer, Andreas Bocelli, Omara Portunda, Pacquito D’Riviera, Joey DeFrancisco, and Tom Jones. He has been the opening act for Herbie Hancock and has led his own groups on tour across Canada and the West Indies.
