Workshop at 4 pm: Creating one’s own voice.
One of the most exciting pairings we have had for some time, two multi-award winning female woodwind players grace the stage with a cross border collaboration you will not soon forget. Recently awarded the Order of Canada, Jane Bunnett is one of Canada’s great jazz artists, having won multiple Juno Awards, and Grammy nominations. The first time in The Jazz Room, Bunnett is known for her creative integrity, improvisational daring and courageous artistry.
South of the border, Jamie Baum was recently voted No. 1 Rising Star Flute in the Downbeat Critics Poll (2012). The New York Times says “. . . her composing ideas have gotten particularly strong on “In This Life” (Sunnyside). . .” her most recent album, from which this band will draw tunes from for this performance. A regular at the best jazz clubs in Manhattan, and around the world, Baum is one of the great flute voices in today’s jazz scene.
Don’t miss what will be one of the great performances at The Jazz Room this season.
