In his first visit to THE JAZZ ROOM as band leader, Nick Fraser has a well-earned reputation as one of Canada’s finest on the kit. Often leading the vanguard of innovation and experimentation (not to mention virtuosity!), Fraser promises a performance that is fresh with compositions, arrangements, and performances that simultaneously challenge and delight such as Sketch #9.
Joining Fraser for this performance will be not one, but two bass players — Andrew Downing a JAZZ ROOM favourite, and Rob Clutton making his debut in the venue — with Downing also doubling ‘on cello. Rounding out the band on woodwinds is Tony Malaby from New York City. This instrumental format is a JAZZ ROOM first and promises some sonic surprises not to be missed.
