Top Pocket returns to the Jazz Room on October 23 for a 30th Anniversary CD Release Show for their new album, “rocket in my (top) pocket”! One of Waterloo’s best-known, and most popular Jazz bands since the late 80′s, this quartet has ranged from be-bop, fusion, Latin, traditional and jazz these guys with tremendous versatility and depth!
The original line-up at the Coyote Bar and the Circus Room included current members Michael Bergauer on bass and Don McDougall on drums in addition to Glenn Murch on guitar, and the man that was a huge part of Top Pocket’s sound for so many years, the multi-talented Andy Klaehn.
Through the years there have been a number of personnel changes that have led the band to this moment. Not only have the new members brought lots of new original music to the band, there’s a new excitement and energy! The band was so excited by the new album, that they felt the music was telling them to add two new musicians; a guitarist and percussionist, making Top Pocket for the first time since their origin 30 years ago, a sextet.
