Carey West is a dynamic vocalist who has lent her talents to several collaborations. She has built a reputation energetic and heartfelt performances whether leading her Jazz ensemble “Carey West and The Millionaires”, fronting Caribbean Funk group “The Liquidaires” or easing in with alt-bluegrass group “The Jeremiahs”. She has been performing jazz “unstandards” for approximately 20 years. Her eclectic song collection is built on the foundation of blues legends such as Bessie Smith, and Fats Waller, with a through-line to Oscar Brown Jr. and Abby Lincoln. Her repertoire exceeds the bounds of the American Songbook to include works by Tom Waits and Suzanne Vega. In 2017 she released “Made of Clay” a collection of songs both old and new that reflect evolving narratives of mental illness within the jazz idiom. Carey has held residencies at both The Rex Hotel and The Cameron House.
