Gianluca Occhipinti is a Canadian jazz musician, composer, and educator based in Toronto, Ontario. He is primarily known for his work as a pianist and bassist within the modern jazz and fusion scenes. Growing up in Toronto, he was immersed in a musically diverse environment; his father was an avid opera fan, while his mother favoured hip-hop. He comes from a prominent musical family. His older brothers, established musicians themselves, introduced him to jazz clubs and symphonies at a young age. He has performed alongside his uncle, the noted guitarist Michael Occhipinti, and bassist Roberto Occhipinti.
He is an alumnus of the Humber Polytechnic Jazz program
He is a core member of FC3, a modern jazz trio led by bassist Finn Chercover. The group blends groove-heavy fusion with atmospheric harmonies, drawing inspiration from artists like Christian Scott. In 2025, he released a massive compilation of 67 tracks on Bandcamp, consisting of musical sketches and explorations in odd meters and complex harmonies.
