Ewen Farncombe is a Juno-nominated pianist and composer based out of Toronto and has been a professional on the scene there for nearly a decade. Having played on various recordings and with numerous bands, he has earned his reputation as a highly skilled musician. While he was attending Humber College for a degree in music performance, he received several prestigious awards, including the Hnatyshyn Foundation Oscar Peterson award. While jazz is Ewen’s passion, he is a versatile player and is known to play many genres of music.
On this occasion, the trio will be performing original works, in combination with carefully curated jazz standards played in styles both old and new. The sound is modeled after many of the great piano trios that exist currently and that have come before and the intent is to create smooth, tight, powerfull, and expressive art, together, as an organism. Ewen, Ben, and Davide have been playing as a trio for a number of years at places like the Jazz Bistro and The Rex, and have been invited to back up artists and events such as Irwin Hall from NYC at the Jazz Bistro, and Jazz FM’s A Little Bit Of Love
