JUNO-nominated Ostara Project, spearheaded by award-winning jazz musicians Jodi Proznick and Amanda Tosoff, showcases the strength and creativity of Canadian women in jazz. Ostara’s artists are all top-tier musicians, composers, and bandleaders who reflect the geographical, cultural, and creative diversity of Canada’s musical landscape. Their music is a mix of original compositions, arrangements of standards, and folk music from around the world—many of which will be featured on their next album, Roots, due for release in the fall of 2024.
Guest vocalists, (Kim Zombik is the featured vocalist on this tour), are invited to join the instrumental group on a per-project basis. Ostara’s self-titled debut album (Cellar Live, 2022) was nominated for a JUNO award in 2023. The group undertook a very successful tour of the Canadian Jazz festival circuit in the summer of 2023, performing at nine festivals on large outdoor stages and sold-out clubs. A March 2024 tour took the group to the Yukon and British Columbia and included three days at the Warehouse studio in Vancouver to record new music. The upcoming Ancestor’s Project includes an instrumental album, “Roots”, a vocal album, “Wings”, as well as a mini-documentary and video shorts.
