After a truly exhilarating performance with his band last year, we had to get pianist Florian Hoefner back from New York City. Particularly with his new CD, Falling Up which is garnering rave reviews and is a brilliant follow-on to his first album Songs Without Words. Florian is a rare contemporary composer that is immediately accessible with superb song writing that is at once supremely melodic, while also being complex, virtuosic and stunningly beautiful. Florian is truly an outstanding voice for his generation and the future of jazz.
As a German native living in New York, Florian on piano draws from a wide variety of players the world over that somehow end up in the Big Apple. On saxophone is New Orleans-based Matthew Jordan Marantz. Also in the band are Sam Anning on bass, and Peter Kronreif on drums. Don’t miss what will be a stand-out performance of some of the best contemporary, acoustic jazz to be found anywhere.
