Harley Card is a Toronto based guitarist, composer, and singer-songwriter originally from Winnipeg Manitoba, via Ottawa Ontario. In addition to leading his own groups, Harley is known for his work with the eclectic Canadian bands; Hobson’s Choice, Stoptime, God’s Gift To Yoda, and Dream Logic.
Harley Card Trio play contemporary jazz originals as well as music by some of their favourite composers such as; Wayne Shorter, Duke Ellington, Joe Henderson, and Eddie Harris. Harley, Dan, and Ethan have a 20 year rapport in an array of musical settings. A unique feature of the trio are their arrangements for steel string acoustic guitar, double bass, and drums. Drawing influence from acoustic guitarists like Bruce Cockburn, Pat Metheny, Joni Mitchell, and Paulinho Nogueira, they explore the textural capabilities of Harley’s McConnell custom acoustic guitar to contrast their classic electric jazz guitar trio sound.
Harley has released three instrumental albums for trio, quartet, and quintet; ‘Non-Fiction’ (2007), ‘Hedgerow’ (2013), and ‘The Greatest Invention’ (2018). Each record has earned international acclaim and Harley and his groups have toured in Canada extensively.
