A taste of the Manhattan jazz district is yours for the taking as Jacam Manricks’ Trigonometry tour comes to Waterloo.

‘Superb saxophone work, intellectually stimulating writing and ingeniously dovetailed rhythmic lines are the three sides that form the musical shape on ‘Trigonometry’ – All About Jazz – New York

Don’t worry about needing a Math degree to follow the changes, as one of the Huether Hotel’s micro-brews will introduce you to the beautiful contours of Jacam’s music.

The Jazz Times likens Jacam to Walt Whitman for bring jazz existentialism to the personal level to which the musician in all of us relate.

The tour will feature Jacam’s highly acclaimed compositions performed by a world-class ensemble including:

  • Canadian drummer Ernesto Cervini (Joe Lovano, Clark Terry, Benny Golson)
  • Jim Vivian on bass (Dave Liebman, Kenny Wheeler, John Abercrombie)
  • Manricks on saxophones (Ray Charles, Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts, Village Vanguard Orchestra)

The ingenious diversity of the music ranges from the video of Mood Swings to Trigonometry. Save yourself a trip to Manhattan this winter, and join us for a trio that goes beyond clever.

“…Jacam Manricks has a fluid, fluent approach to the alto sax, but it’s his compositions which are his drawing card – and which may absolutely blow you away.” – Smalls Jazz Club – NYC – Lucid Culture
