Between Art Blakey’s 6 member Jazz Messengers and the stylings of the modern 18 piece big band sits the idea of a jazz collective. From the imagination of Oliver Nelson, Art Pepper, Gil Evans, Carla Bley and others, the concept of a medium-sized jazz ensemble was inspired as a harmonically intimate yet stylistically impactful musical experience for both the audience and the musicians. Under the direction of trombonist and arranger Jim Edwards, Little BBT will feature the amazing musicians from Kitchener-Waterloo’s own Big Band Theory (a fan favourite of the jazzroom). They will be performing a number of Jim’s compositions and arrangements for the audience, as well as some of Rob Gellner‘s compositions and arrangements from his last CD.
