IN LIGHT OF NUMBEROUS HEALTH AUTHORITIES STRONGLY RECOMMENDING THAT PEOPLE AVOID LARGE GROUPS BECAUSE OF THE NEW SURGE IN THE OMICRON COVID VARIANT, THE BOARD OF THE GRAND RIVER JAZZ SOCIETY HAS DECIDED TO CANCEL THIS EVENT. ALL TICKETS TO THIS SHOW WILL BE REFUNDED.
For New Years, the doors will open at 6:00 PM. Admission cost does not include food and drink. There is no prix fixe menu this year, but David Adlys has suggested there will be some specials to whet your appetite! We will initially limit the sale of tickets to 75 (due to COVID), but if the virus cooperates, the numbers may be increased. Of course, double vaccination will continue to be required. There will be 2 sets from 8:00-9:00 PM and 9:30-10:30 PM. Alas, no dancing due to COVID. After enjoying the 2 sets, we will then invite you to count in the New Year in the privacy and safety of your home.
A dynamic and energetic trio – KC, Adam & Gigi were just getting started on their exciting musical journey together before… the grand pause 😉 Now they are back to bring you a delicious night of music to ring in the new year!
Guitarist KC Roberts and vocalist Gigi (Genevieve) Marentette are two very established Toronto musicians that have shared stages since attending Humber College jazz Program together many moons ago. Their longtime friendship electrifies the music as they come together to celebrate all their favourite songs with passion. Both masters of song re-interpretation, KC sounds like he has twice the amount of fingers and can lay down a groove and pocket like nobody’s business, and Gigi’s vocals are always uber present and indescribably transcendent – a unique artist. The duo welcomes drummer and percussionist, Adam Bowman, who has been a mainstay in both the Canadian and international music scenes for more than two decades. Gigi was lucky enough to get to know Adam’s musicality through his residence at Toronto’s infamous Orbit Room, a historic home to top local musicians. Adam is an especially sensitive and percussive drummer who knows how to add the perfect layer to any mode, making the music soar. Together again, the trio is very excited to bring you some feel good grooves to set a positive tone for the year ahead.
