Cuban-Canadian jazz pianist Orlando Cardoso Herrera is a professional musician with over 30 years of experience. He was born in Matanzas and began his music studies at the age of 12 at the Escuela Nacional de Artes (ENA) in Havana, where he studied bassoon and piano for six years. He graduated in 1991 and joined the Matanzas Symphony Orchestra, with whom he played for 2 years. Afterward, he worked in various other
popular music bands in Matanzas and Havana.

In 1999, Orlando moved to Toronto, Canada, where he began performing and recording with local bands.
Orlando has performed in Europe, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and the US, accompanying various artists and bands as a pianist.In the world of Salsa, he has performed with the likes of Charlie Aponte, Andy Montañez, Pupy Santiago, José Alberto “El Canario”, Roberto Roena, Charlie Zaa, and David Pabón. In the world of jazz, he has collaborated with David Sánchez and Giovanni Hidalgo.

From 2019 to the present, Cardoso has been a former member of the famous Grammy-winning orchestra
‘Juan De Marcos & Afro-Cuban All Stars’ with highlight performances at Duke University in Durham,
NY, SF Jazz, San Francisco, and touring in Europe and the US.
This year, thanks to the Canada Council for the Arts, Cardoso recorded his Latin Jazz album, “Passing By.”
