Some Fun Out Of Life. That isn’t just the title of Rebecca Binnendyk’s debut album, it is also her personal mantra. The Canadian jazz/pop singer/songwriter is one of the most positive people you’ll ever meet, and she possesses a dynamic personality chock full of energy, humour and style.

Those character traits help make her a charismatic and engaging performer, and they are now showcased on her vibrant new album, one set for release on prestigious independent label ALMA Records in early 2016.

Rebecca’s stylistic diversity comes naturally, she explains. “I think my training in the classical world really prepared me to sing anything. I identify myself as a jazz singer but I often find myself crossing the lines. I love folk and some pop music. I enjoy a lot of different things in life and music, and I believe the song selection here reflects that.”

Rebecca has received a FACTOR award for recording and has played roles in well-known musicals such as Rent, Anne of Green Gables and Bye Bye Birdie. In 2014, she kept her vocal chops honed by performing in Melbourne and Queenstown. Regular public and corporate gigs have seen Binnendyk front the 18-piece Canadian Big Band. She has performed several sold-out shows at Kitchener’s The Jazz Room and has played Toronto jazz venues, Gate 403 and 120 Diner.

Rebecca’s versatile vocal skills have also been recognized by acclaimed world music ensemble The Sultans of String, who have invited her on board as a guest singer at upcoming orchestral performances.

There is already international interest in the imminent arrival of Some Fun Out Of Life, so Rebecca Binnendyk’s musical career is poised to surge forward. Following it’s future path promises to be a richly rewarding pursuit.
