The excitingly creative Canadian jazz quartet, Thermo has launched their debut album, Birdlike. Featuring Nathan Hiltz (guitar) and Mike Manny (piano), the album demands attention from not only the dedicated audience of forward-thinking jazz listeners, but also from anyone interested in hearing well-executed music. Performing selections from the hard-bop era, the ten tracks pay homage to compositions by jazz masters Freddie Hubbard, Horace Silver, and Wes Montgomery. Thermo began during the pandemic when Nathan and Mike performed guitar-piano duo shows online via the magic of cyberspace. A musical kinship blossomed, and the duo grew to be a quartet with the addition of the deeply swinging Morgan Childs (drums) and the legendary Canadian musician Neil Swainson (bass). THERMO is proud to have received a Global Music Award in the Jazz Category for Birdlike in September 2023.
