The Murphy Quintet is a newly formed group by Juno-nominated musicians, Tara Davidson and William Carn. Dedicated to the couple’s recently departed cat Murphy, this quintet is a slight departure from the couple’s critically acclaimed 9-piece ensemble – the Carn Davidson 9. This smaller group plays a wide range of material which includes jazz standards and original compositions. The couple felt a need to reconnect to the roots of the music so the Murphy Quintet provides an opportunity to play music from an earlier era as well compositions.
