“A Technicolor swing that’s just the thing.” – Brad Wheeler, the Globe and Mail

“Her talent, style, and attitude are all befitting of stardom.” – Metro News

One of Canada’s most recognizable voices in jazz, Tia Brazda’s jazz-pop gems and retro style have established her as a unique presence on the jazz scene, both at home in Canada and abroad. Brazda has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival, main stage at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal, was rated as ‘Best of the Fest’ at the San Jose Jazz Summer Fest, and has toured numerous times across North America and Europe, from intimate supper clubs to large outdoor festivals. Her music has been described as a “hip pastiche” and a “walking catalog of 20th century jazz styles”. Of her new album ‘When I Get Low’, The Wholenote Magazine says “She has a fully formed style that is wholly her own.” The track “Smile” from the album has over 1 million streams on Spotify.

Not only a singer, but a songwriter as well, Brazda burst onto the scene in 2012 with her electro-swing single Cabin Fever, now considered a landmark song in the genre. She followed that up with the 2015 full-length album Bandshell, named as one of the best of the decade in the Italian press and one of the best of the year by Jazz FM 91 in Toronto. In 2016 followed that up with Bandshell Remixed, an album of remixes of songs off her Bandshell album, by prominent DJs from around the world. Her 2018 release Daydream saw her exploring new grooves with bossa nova, soul and tango influences. Songs from her albums can be heard across America on the celebrated JazzWorks Radio Playlist. Brazda’s new album When I Get Low finds her rediscovering songs largely from the 1930s, in the Great American songbook – a time with eerie parallels to today, wedged between a worldwide pandemic and wars.
