Will Fisher grew up in rural Nova Scotia, eventually studying in at both Humber College and the University of Louisville where he was a member of the Jamey Aebersold International Masters Quartet. Performing throughout North America, Fisher has built a reputation as one of Canada’s top young drummers. His debut album “Portage” received two nominations for Jazz Recording of the Year from the East Coast Music Association and Music Nova Scotia. He has performed and recorded with artists including Kirk MacDonald, Kieran Overs, Bernie Senensky and others. Will plays lovely, straight ahead jazz with occasional East Coast folk influences. His engaging composition “Cape Breton Lullaby” was featured on Tourism Nova Scotia’s Facebook page.
Joining Will for his Jazz Room show will be Juno Nominee and National Jazz Awards 2008 Keyboardist of the year Nancy Walker whose most recent album “New Hieroglyphics” has received critical acclaim. Mike Downes, who is also Bass department head at Humber College, rounds out the trio. Downes’ most recent recording Ripple Effect has been nominated for a 2014 Juno Award.
