Toronto’s own Amanda Tosoff has been steadily gaining critical acclaim since the release of her debut album “Still Life” (Cellar Live 2006). Her playlist includes toe tapping, edge of your seats tunes like Julia’s Blues and Sounds Through the Window.
“…Tosoff shows great promise: as a composer, leader, and performer… Her quartet swings with a genuine spirit, and she interprets clearly with a crisp motion. .. she brings the piano into full view through her calm demeanor and complete confidence.” – Jim Santella – Cadence Magazine
Her Quartet has been the recipient of the CBC Galaxie Rising Star Award in 2007 and the General Motors Grand Prix de Jazz in 2009. Most recently, Tosoff was awarded a Canada Council grant to study in New York with pianist and composer Phil Markowitz for 3 months, rounding off performances across the country including the Montreal Jazz Festival and the Zacatecas Jazz and Blues Festival. She has been featured on CBC Radio programs Hot Air, Jazz Beat and Canada Live.
Amanda’s jazz trio hits the stage with jazz room favorites Fabio Ragnelli on drums and Dan Fortin on bass.
